+ Motorcycle rallies and events are gearing up for the spring and summer riding seasons. Does your Interstate Compact Office want to request a voluntary offender travel restriction?

+ State Updates +

Illinois flag + Illinois - The Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts has an opening in their Interstate Compact Unit for a Probation Program Assistant. The Probation Program Assistant reviews and processes probation cases transferred into Illinois and from Illinois to other states. Visit the Illinois Courts website for more information.

Kentucky flag + Kentucky - After a 2 month stint with the Department of Corrections IT office, Steve Turner is back in the saddle as the Deputy Compact Administrator for Probation.

Minnesota flag + Minnesota - The Interstate Compact Office staff list is updated.

Vermont flag + Vermont - The State Council has recently had several new members appointed.

+ All personnel changes are updated on the individual state pages and in the Interstate Compact Office Directory PDF.

+ Compact Office Calendar - Please be aware of closures, shortened hours of operation, and the possibility of limited staff during/after inclement weather.

+ Committee and Region Updates +

+ Midwest Region DCAs - 13 DCAs attended the regional, online meeting on Tuesday, May 1 in which topics for the DCA Training Institute, 3 rule amendments, and Rule 5.101-2, were discussed.

+ Technology Committee - The committee met on Wednesday, May 2 and had discussions on:
  • Latest ICOTS FY 2018 Enhancements
  • The ICOTS Enhancement List rankings
  • National IVINS/ICOTS VINEWatch use
+ East Region DCAs - The region DCAs convened online on Thursday, May 3 and discussed:
  • The proposed topics for the 2018 DCA Training Institute
  • Improving the Bench Book
  • Procedural issues related to ‘sex offender’ rules
  • Rule enhancements
  • Victim notification / IVINS
  • Nominations for the DCA Liaison Committee Chair
+ West Region - The region Commissioners and DCAs met on Thursday, May 3 and:
  • Heard a West Region DCA report from Idaho DCA Judy Mesick
  • Were asked for nominations for the DCA Liaison Committee Chair
  • Were asked for issues related to ‘sex offender’ rules
  • Were asked to submit Bench Book update suggestions
  • Discussed rule amendment proposals from Arizona

+ Commission Announcements & Reminders +

ICOTS logo Reminder - It is encouraged for all DCAs and Compact Offices to register for service-level notifications for ICOTS. Notifications can be via email and SNS (text) notifications. End users can sign up for the notifications if they choose. Notifications will include outages, maintenance windows, and other emergency issues relating to ICOTS.

ICOTS logo Reminder - Details of this week’s 3 new ICOTS enhancement can be found at the ICOTS Help Desk. The new enhancement was launched on Wednesday, April 25:
  • Add a “tolled” function to the supervision end date to mark supervision end date on hold while Violations are pending
  • Display workflow comments in activity history
  • Label case notes generated by reassignment to distinguish them from other case notes
Reminder - In the Spirit of the Compact, a South Region DCA provides quick assistance to extradite an unwilling offender.

Reminder - Thanks to the Spirit of the Compact, NY Parole found a new out-of-state home for an offender receiving death threats.
