Ken Merz is the Director of Administrative Services for the Minnesota Department of Corrections. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice at Kent State University and began his career in criminal justice at the Erie County Juvenile Detention Center in 1973. Since that time Mr. Merz has worked in a variety of areas for the Minnesota Department of Corrections including Senior Inspector and Director of Standards Development as well as Director of Support Services. Currently, Mr. Merz is serving the Minnesota Department of Corrections as the Director of Administrative Services. This includes assisting the Deputy Commissioner with the operation of the Community Services & Support Division and serving as the division liaison to the state legislature when they are in session for all policy and budget matters related to the Community Services & Support Division. Mr. Merz is responsible for the supervision of the Grants and Subsidies Unit, the Interstate Compact Unit and the Sex Offender Services Unit. He serves Minnesota as its Interstate Compact Commissioner.
